Community Spotlight:

Bill was about to embark on a challenging bike race in China … all in the name of charity. Here he tells us how Drupal benefitted his quest:

I had signed up for a charity bike ride in China and then realised half the challenge was getting the required fundraising. I decided I had to have a website to publicise my race and I used Drupal to build it.

What I liked most was that it started as a small blog for friends and family to view but as my campaign gained more publicity I needed to grow the website and that’s what put Drupal heads and shoulders above other CMS offerings. Thanks to the modules I was able to make the site live on past the bike ride, I added galleries of my time in China and it’s now become my personal site for the next charity event too, others have been getting involved and I guess its become a sort of social network for people doing similar activities.

“We needed an underwater theme for the new website for our small aquatic shop. There were loads of great themes on Drupal but nothing to suit our needs. We designed our own and now others have been using it too which is very rewarding”.

“I had been using Drupal for about 10 months and had a lot of help from people in the community so I decided to give something back and help organise my local Drupal event. I met loads of great people and am already planning a trip to Drupalcon in Washington DC next year”.
